OUR STORY

"Portraits - ideological assumptions"

The selected works belong to a collection of 9 male portraits, depicting charismatic personalities, photographed on the street and riding a skateboard for over 15 years. Faces that are an icon of youthful rebellion, a symbol of breaking away from the accepted convention, at the peak of one's life, one's physical fitness, and also at the moment of the feeling of eternity that skateboarding gives. The most important things in life are the everlasting and lasting things that give you a reason to live. Nothing brings greater happiness than passion and the awareness of being needed. Nowadays, people are overstimulated, tired of growing expectations, and the growing opportunities seem to be overwhelming. Just like before, we now have the same amount of time in one day.

We cannot do beyond our strength and endurance. While doing many things, we do not notice the greater effects of our actions. Only focusing on one thing allows you to achieve success. The people I portrayed devoted their lives to one passion: skateboarding. It's hard to put everything on one card. It's like gambling, where human lives are at stake. You can fail or achieve your dream success. However, I believe that it is the path to success that is most important. Sometimes it takes a moment, sometimes almost a lifetime. The creation process shows our character, ability to overcome difficulties, and patience in achieving the goal.

The portraits I made are my momentum, my pursuit from black to white, so as to leave the most lasting mark. I made many hand-drawn sketches to convey a piercing gaze or grimace, as well as to choose the appropriate way of cutting the matrix for a specific character. I cut the works on 50\70cm linoleum. I wanted to convey the shape of the body, chiaroscuro, space, texture and monumentality. The background was cut out so that it was gray on the print by cutting out horizontal lines, or black, left intact. It is an icon made by me that is a resistance movement for a changing world.
